Who is Elizabeth?

Life After Elizabeth | Supporting those with a mental illness live a better life through creative writing and positive psychology

I’m glad you asked.

Elizabeth is my big sister.

At the young age of 26, on October 13, 2013, she took her own life. This website is a virtual space for making sense of life after the incredible tragedy that is suicide.

I hope anyone who lands on this site is inspired to be supportive and encouraging to others. To listen when someone is hurting, even if you can’t understand why. Just listen.

My goal is to end the stigma of mental illness through honesty and compassion by sharing my story with the world. My way of paying tribute to her life is by opening my heart to anyone struggling with mental illness and doing what I can to be of service to my community.

This involves my own journey of healing, acceptance, and understanding. One of which I am still very much in the midst of.

If you want to read more about my sister, I recommend reading If Love Could Have Saved You.

  1. Hello Kimberly, wow, what a blog. I found your blog via this post https://lifeafterelizabeth.blog/2019/01/05/bringing-fiji-village-life-to-sydney/ because I was looking for posts about Gunu. I see you stayed with Emily and Bilo. They’re great people, Emily is a great host. I’ve been her friend for many years.

Gunu is a great place to get your mental health back. I suffer from depression and anxiety a lot as well. I find Gunu is one place I can relax and my worries just melt away. It is so calm and peaceful there. All the kids playing on the beach, having fun. The sound of roosters in the morning. The aunties of the village doing what they need to do. The singing in the church. Much nicer noises than traffic, sirens, planes flying over and endless people. Life there is so much more safe and relaxed than here.

Do you by chance have a bigger copy of this picture from your web page? https://eclecticwave.files.wordpress.com/2019/01/49344367_1929888643775270_8929981051338489856_n.jpg

That’s my little blue house there.

    Kind regards,
